HARVEST
the 2020 vintage was characterized by a cold winter and twice as much rain as normal. In early spring we had moderate temperatures and some rainy days. This ensured that the plant experienced a great germination and a good vegetative development. In the summer luckily we weren’t bothered by excessively high temperatures, which allowed the plant to develop without experiencing photosynthetic stops due to high temperatures.
By mid-August, maximum temperatures did not rise above 33ºC, while minimum temperatures dropped to below 18ºC, helping to complete a beautiful maturation while preserving freshness and elegance in the wines of this vintage. In short, a year with a low production and a balanced maturation.
ORIGIN
Region: Cuenca – Ribera del Júcar – Municipality: Pozoamargo.
THE VINEYARDS
The vineyards of this wine are close to the Júcar river. The Acorde wine is made of grapes of 3 vineyards very close to each other, in the area known as La Risquilla.
These vineyards are over 80 years old. The soils of these vineyards are characterized by having pebbles on the surface. Under this layer of pebbles appears a layer of clay about 30-40 cm thick and under the clay there is calcareous rock, which has a big influence on the character of this wine. These vines, where the calcareous part of the soil has a decisive influence on the development of the plant and the character of the wine, define the UNIQUE VINEYARD WINE, Acorde.
The yield of these vineyards this year was 3000 Kg/Ha. We work these vineyards naturally.
ELABORATION
The grapes from these plots in the 2019 vintage were harvested on September 19th. After cooling, the selection of clusters and grapes is carried out to later carry out the incubation in a concrete tank.
30% of the grapes are vatted without destemming, and during the vatting, gentle pump-overs are carried out without pumps, by gravity.
Fermentation is carried out with the autochthonous yeast flora, with temperature control. The separation of the wine and the skin and seeds is done 24 days after the incubation.
AGING
The wine was first aged for 16 months in used 500-liter French oak barrels and was then transferred to egg-shaped concrete tanks, where it remained for another 6 months until bottling. This wine hits the marked after 2 years of aging in the bottle.
